Forestry
To get the most out of your pine plantation and ensure forest success, proper mangement is critical. The use of herbicides is an important part of any forest managment plan. Herbicides provide an effective and value-added means from undesired vegetation. Custom Air has experience in all aspects of helicopter application of forestry herbicides, no matter the desired course. Forestry applications can usually be broken down into four types, Site Preperation, Herbaceous Weed Control, Early Release or Mid-Rotation Release. Site preperation is an application done prior to planting and is most effective in getting the seedlings ahead of it's surrounding competition, in regards to valuable natural resources. Herbaceous weed control is done in a pine stand's first or second growing season, and in conjunction with a site preperation, greatly increase the chance of survival and the speed of the rotation. Early release application is done for the same reasons in about the first five years to aid in a possibly sub-effective first application. Mid-rotation release is similar to early release except that is usually applied to larger trees after thinning.
